History
Mercy Hospital, located in downtown Calcutta, India, is a six-story building containing 173 beds and 30 specialty centers. Dr. Nisha Haque and Dr. John Budi participated in a medical rotation at the hospital in the spring of 2013. Dr. Budi presented research on hand hygiene techniques to healthcare professionals. Response to the presentation drew concern about rates of onsite infection (E.g. Hand hygiene is unnecessary because high temperatures in Calcutta would kill bacteria).
